PRP treatments for brain inflammation could repair the damage

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is rich in numerous growth factors associated with repair processes after injury in the central nervous system, which consists of the brain and spinal cord. One study investigated the ability of PRP to promote the growth of nerve tissue and to determine which growth factors were responsible for this growth. The study suggested that the addition of PRP promotes axonal nerve growth, particularly through mechanisms associated with growth factors known as IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) and VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor).

Insulin is important for proper cognitive function of the brain and regulation of blood sugar. However, insulin cannot be given orally or by injection. This is because insulin can also lower blood sugar levels. 

To avoid this risk, doctors prescribe the mixed drug through the nasal cavity so that it passes through the sevenfold cribriform plate in the brain. This is where PRP falls into the brain, spinal fluid and brain to regenerate nerve damage. Tests have shown that insulin and the PRP combination used in PRP treatments for encephalitis work in the central nervous system. This action continues for several hours after the first administration.

Although in-depth research and studies are needed, the preliminary results of the treatment of PRP encephalitis are interesting. These findings could open up new ways to repair brain damage and help patients.
