Luer connection technology

Combifix® Luer-Lock adapter for connecting two syringes

The Combifix® adapter from B. Braun in the female/female version connects two male Luer or Luer-Lock fittings. A typical use is the direct connection of two Luer-Lock syringes for controlled transfer and, where the defined workflow allows it, the mixing of compatible liquids or gel-like preparations.

What is a Combifix® adapter?

Combifix® is a Luer connector. The version offered here has a female socket on both sides and therefore joins two components with a male Luer or Luer-Lock fitting. With standard Luer-Lock syringes, this enables a direct syringe-to-syringe connection.

Clear distinction The adapter creates a direct connection. It is not a three-way stopcock, check valve or filter and does not independently control flow or dosage.

What is the Luer-Lock syringe connector used for?

The decisive factors are the connection type, the compatibility of all components and the professionally defined process. Typical uses include:

Transferring liquids

Compatible liquids can be transferred from one Luer-Lock syringe to another or divided into a different syringe size.

Homogenising preparations

Repeated transfer between two connected syringes can mix suitable liquid or gel-like preparations more evenly.

PRP and plasma gel workflows

Within suitable professional workflows, the adapter can be used to transfer or homogenise plasma fractions.

Female/female or male/male?

The required version depends on the fittings of the two components. Two standard Luer-Lock syringes have male fittings and therefore require a female/female adapter.

Frequently asked questions about Combifix® and Luer-Lock adapters

Which adapter connects two Luer-Lock syringes?

A female/female adapter is required for two standard Luer-Lock syringes because both syringes have a male fitting.

Is Combifix® intended only for PRP or plasma gel?

No. Combifix® is a general Luer connector. PRP and plasma gel workflows are possible specialised uses where the defined process and components allow them.

Does the adapter fit every syringe?

The adapter is intended for compatible male Luer or Luer-Lock fittings. The fitting type, intended purpose and manufacturer’s information for all components must be checked before use.

Can the adapter replace a three-way stopcock?

Not as a general rule. The adapter directly connects two fittings. A three-way stopcock has several flow paths and a control function. The required component depends on the specific workflow.

When is the pack of 20 useful?

The pack of 20 is suitable for practices and other professional users with regular demand. For occasional use, the Combifix® adapter is also available individually.
