PRP materials for medical professionals

PRP tubes, PRP sets, centrifuges and accessories for structured clinical workflows

In this category, medical professionals will find materials for the professional preparation of Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP. The range includes sterile PRP tubes, PRP starter sets, suitable centrifuges, blood collection accessories, sterile syringes, needles and additional practice supplies.

The products are intended for practices, clinics, laboratories and medical facilities. Selection and use depend on the intended purpose, instructions for use, device configuration and the professional standards of the respective facility.

PRP tubes

PRP tubes are sterile blood collection tubes for the preparation of platelet-rich plasma. Depending on the version, they may contain anticoagulants such as sodium citrate or ACD-A, a separation gel or no additives. Relevant factors include volume, material, sterility, CE marking, medical device class and manufacturer information.

Vi PRP-PRO tubes

Vi PRP-PRO is an example of sterile PRP tubes with sodium citrate and separation gel. The specific use depends on the intended purpose, instructions for use and the requirements of the medical facility.

PRP sets

PRP sets combine a centrifuge, PRP tubes and consumables. They are suitable for practices that want to build a coordinated material stock for recurring PRP workflows.

Syringes, needles and accessories

Additional consumables such as syringes, needles, blood collection sets, holders and organizers support an orderly workflow from blood collection to further preparation of the plasma obtained.

Buying PRP tubes: what medical professionals should check

When selecting PRP tubes, the technical design and compatibility with the existing workflow are key. Relevant points include fill volume, tube material, anticoagulant, separation gel, sterility, storage conditions, shelf life, MDR conformity and the intended purpose of the respective medical device.

For medical devices, professionals should not rely only on the product name. The regulatory classification, CE marking, instructions for use and compatibility with the centrifuge used should also be checked.

Single tubes, practice pack or PRP starter set?

For existing PRP workflows, individual PRP tubes or practice packs are suitable when the centrifuge and accessories are already available. Practice packs are useful when the same tube type is used regularly and material consumption needs to be more predictable.

PRP starter sets are relevant for practices that want to purchase a centrifuge, PRP tubes and consumables together. This allows the material requirements for blood collection, centrifugation and further preparation to be covered in one set.

In brief

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma.

PRP materials are used for the professional preparation and processing of autologous blood in a specialist setting.

The information on this page is product-related and does not constitute a treatment recommendation.

PRP centrifuges: RCF is more relevant than RPM alone

Centrifugation is often described in RPM, meaning revolutions per minute. However, the actual force applied to the sample is determined by the relative centrifugal force, or RCF. This value depends on the centrifuge rotor radius.

Two centrifuges can generate different RCF values at the same RPM. Medical professionals should therefore not compare RPM alone, but check which RCF is achieved with the respective rotor and whether it fits the tube, protocol and manufacturer information.

Standard formula:
RCF = 1.118 × 10-5 × r × RPM2
r = rotor radius in cm, RPM = revolutions per minute.

PRP tubes with anticoagulant and separation gel

These tubes are intended for PRP workflows in which a defined separation of blood components is to be supported. Anticoagulant, separation gel and tube material are product-dependent and must match the intended purpose.

Tubes without anticoagulant

Tubes without anticoagulant or separation gel are used in other workflows depending on their intended purpose, for example in certain PRF protocols. They are not automatically interchangeable with PRP tubes.

PRP and PRF: do not mix up the materials

PRP and PRF are both obtained from autologous blood, but differ in material selection, additives and preparation workflow. Depending on the product, PRP tubes contain an anticoagulant and sometimes a separation gel. PRF tubes are often designed without anticoagulant and follow different time and centrifugation parameters.

For selection, the decisive factor is not the name alone, but the tube’s intended purpose, the protocol used and compatibility with the centrifuge.

Frequently asked questions about PRP materials

Which materials are needed for a PRP workflow?

Typically, suitable PRP tubes, a compatible centrifuge, blood collection materials, sterile syringes, needles and further accessories depending on the practice workflow are required.

Are PRP tubes compatible with every centrifuge?

No. Tube dimensions, rotor holder, permitted speed, RCF, fill volume and manufacturer information for both tube and centrifuge are decisive.

What is the difference between PRP tubes and PRF tubes?

Depending on the version, PRP tubes contain anticoagulant and separation gel. PRF tubes are often without anticoagulant and follow different preparation parameters. Selection depends on intended purpose and workflow.

When is a PRP starter set useful?

A PRP starter set is useful when a practice wants to purchase centrifuge, PRP tubes and consumables together. It does not replace the review of professional, technical and regulatory requirements.

What does RCF mean for PRP centrifuges?

RCF describes the relative centrifugal force. It is more meaningful for the actual load on the sample than RPM alone because it takes the rotor radius into account.

What role do syringes and needles play in the PRP workflow?

Syringes and needles are part of the consumables used around blood collection, preparation and further processing. Selection depends on workflow, product compatibility and professional requirements.

Who may use PRP products?

The products are intended for qualified medical professionals. Responsibility for selection, use, documentation and compliance with applicable requirements lies with the treating facility.
