What is a dermaroller?

A dermaroller consists of a handle and a rotating cylinder fitted with fine needles. The instrument is guided manually and, unlike an electrically powered needling pen, does not require a drive unit or motorised handpiece.

The terms dermaroller, mesoroller and microneedling roller are often used interchangeably in the trade. The name alone, however, does not indicate the needle length, regulatory status or specific suitability of a particular model.

A mesoroller should also not be confused with injection mesotherapy. The roller does not contain a syringe and does not inject any liquid.

Choosing a dermaroller: the information that matters

The longest possible needle is not a quality feature. A sound product choice should be based on several pieces of information considered together.
