PRP nebulizer for lung diseases - an innovative treatment method

PRP treatment of lung diseases

Blood plasma therapy can be helpful in treating many types of lung disease and is being studied as a potential treatment for COVID19. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has been shown to help patients with conditions such as pulmonary fibrosis and blood antibodies. of COVID19 survivors may also help others recover.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is based on the concentration of platelets present in the blood. Platelets are small nucleated cells derived from megakaryocytes and are biosynthesized in both the bone marrow and lungs. Its action is based not only on the regulation of thrombosis, but also on the biological activity of the complex set of chemokines, cytokines and growth factors released by platelet granules, which can trigger biological processes of proliferative, antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory nature; therefore, they are classically considered to be mainly responsible for hemostasis, wound healing, anti-inflammatory activity and tissue repair. However, recent research has also shown that platelets are associated with antiviral activities and lung biology and physiology. Although platelets are important in activating antiviral defenses, it has been shown that viruses can also affect platelets by converting viral RNA into proteins, thereby converting healthy platelets into harmful ones.

Considering the aforementioned pathophysiology caused by covid19 and other respiratory tract infections, PRP-based therapies could counteract the loss of healthy platelets by locally managing healthy platelet content, thus recovering and strengthening its biological effects, promoting regeneration of damaged lung tissue and reducing fibrosis.

PRP is known to contain several growth factors that reduce inflammation, decrease the production of harmful molecules such as cytokines (as in cytokine storm in Covid-19), break down scar tissue, etc. PRP also acts as a nutrient for the cells so that they can perform their functions better.

The role of PRP in fighting inflammation

One of the most powerful anti-inflammatory factors is contained in platelets! And concentrated platelets (PRP) are used for various diseases, such as arthritis, tendonitis, degenerative disc disease, infected wounds, and so on. All of these conditions have one common feature: inflammation. And PRP fights inflammation like no other medication

PRP can be used to treat many types of respiratory conditions. Direct administration of PRP via a nebulizer into the lungs has been shown to reduce inflammation and treat conditions such as asthma and emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, and lung tissue.

PRP has been shown to help patients with conditions such as pulmonary fibrosis, and antibodies from the blood of COVID19 survivors can help lung tissue heal.

PRP production

To produce PRP, a blood sample is taken with special PRP tubes and centrifuged in a centrifuge

Centrifugation separates and concentrates plasma and platelets from the remaining blood components. This platelet-rich plasma is used for regenerative purposes

The plasma adheres to the lung and triggers the healing response. While PRP has been used in the past in dermatology, dentistry, and orthopedics, the use of plasma to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a relatively new application. PRP can be used to reduce signs of respiratory disease.

PRP nebulizer

The PRP nebulizer is a form of treatment that patients can take through a device that resembles an oxygen mask. When patients inhale the serum through the nebulizer, the growth factors contained in the PRP have a healing and cell regenerating effect
